Largest commencement to date takes place at BYU - Idaho

Commencement

Elder Steven E. Snow, a member of the Presidency of the Seventy for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, will address 1,562 graduates at Brigham Young University-Idaho’s largest commencement ever April 9. The event will be held at 9 a.m. in the BYU-Idaho Center.


Speakers

Elder Snow was sustained a member of the First Quorum of the Seventy on March 31, 2001, and now has supervisory responsibility for the Utah Areas. He previously served as executive director of the Priesthood Department and as president of the Africa Southeast Area of the Church.

Prior to his call to serve as a full-time General Authority, Elder Snow served as an Area Authority in the Fifth Quorum of the Seventy for the Utah South Area. He also served as a bishop, stake president, and mission president of the California San Fernando Mission.


Additionally, Elder Snow was a senior partner in the Utah law firm of Snow Nuffer. He has also been actively involved in the support of education, having served as a member and president of his local school board, chairman of the Utah State Board of Regents, and chairman of the Western States Commission of Higher Education.


Roger G. Christensen, assistant to the commissioner of the Church Educational System, will also be in attendance at the event. He serves as secretary to the Church Board of Education and Boards of Trustees for BYU, BYU-Hawaii, BYU-Idaho and LDS Business College. In addition, he currently serves on the Board of Directors for Deseret Mutual Benefit administrators.
