Relatively close to Times Square there was the Chrysler Building and the United Nations (UN) Headquarters . Again, very heavy –Airport like-Security to walk inside the UN.
Something I learned about the UN is that, even thought is located in Manhattan New York; it is not considered to be part of the US but something called International territory.
So stepping into the United Nation’s property is like walking to an independent nation (They can require passport to walk into the complex!). No American flag above the United Nations flag (Though undernith all the Un flag are placed all the nations of the world's flag), it has its own postal service and zip code and own phone area code.
(The Secretariat of the UN is headed by the Secretary-General, who acts as the de facto spokesman and leader of the UN. The current Secretary-General is Ban Ki-moon of South Korea.)
